On 28 March 2025, the annual general meeting of VTT appointed President of Tampere University Keijo Hämäläinen as a new member of VTT Board.
Keijo Hämäläinen has acted as the President of the Tampere University since 2023. Prior to that, Hämäläinen has served as President of University oj Jyväskylä as well as a Vice-president, Dean and Professor of Physics at the University of Helsinki. In addition, he is a member of the boards of Sitra, the Finnish Cultural Foundation and Technology Academy Finland.
The composition of the Board of Directors will be supplemented with a seventh member, and the new member will be announced separately after the election.
Pekka Tiitinen, Managing Director at ABB Finland, will continue as the Chair of the Board of VTT and Sonja Hämäläinen, Migration Director at Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, as the Vice-Chair of the Board of VTT.
Besides Tiitinen and Hämäläinen, continuing as VTT Board members are Vice Precident, Remewable Hydgrogen, Outi Ervasti (Neste Oyj), Managing Director Erno Muuranto (GE Healthcare Finland) and financial management professional Kaarina Muurinen.

The annual general meeting of VTT appoints the Board of VTT. The tasks of the Board include confirming the company's strategy, overseeing the implementation of the strategy and being responsible for the profitability and proper organisation of operations at VTT. VTT is a Finnish, wholly state-owned limited liability company operating under the ownership steering of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment. VTT's task as an independent and impartial research organisation is to promote the wide-ranging utilisation and commercialisation of research and technology in industry, commerce, and society.
