The European Commission selected Antti Vasara, President & CEO of the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and President of EARTO (European Association of Research and Technological Association) , as a member of the new Industrial Forum.
The Industrial Forum is an inclusive and open mechanism for co-designing solutions with stakeholders to support the Commission in assessing the risks and needs of industry as it embarks on the twin, green and digital, transition and the transformation of industrial ecosystems. At the Industrial Forum, Antti Vasara will represent the EARTO network of over 350 RTOs in more than 20 countries. EARTO members represents 150.000 of highly-skilled researchers and engineers managing a wide range of innovation infrastructures. EARTO wants to promote a constructive dialogue with European institutions in a broad innovation policy context, across traditional sectoral boundaries.
The Industrial Forum consists of up to 55 members, representing a wide selection of various industrial ecosystems, academia and civil society.
“I’m happy to join the Industrial Forum and pleased that the Commission brings together forces to support the industry reform. There is a lot we can and must do to accelerate the digitalisation and green transition of industry – that can be achieved only by wide collaboration”, Vasara says.
The new Industrial Forum is due to kick off its work this February.
