Receiving the ISO 27001 certificate, which evaluates an information security management system, shows that VTT takes information security issues seriously and wants to invest in the development of information security and serve its customers reliably.
The external audit required for certification was carried out at VTT by the testing, inspection and certification company Kiwa Inspecta. In accordance with the ISO 27001 standard, the audit assessed, among other things, VTT's risk management, management, documentation, training, knowledge of the operating environment and information security policy. In the first phase, the certification covers VTT's key basic functions.
Obtaining an international quality standard is proof of VTT's work for its information security.
"We are aware of information security risks, and our teams work daily for continuous development," says Petri Järvinen, Senior Vice President of VTT's Operational excellence, Digitalisation and Sustainability unit.
VTT's customer projects contain a lot of confidential data that VTT must protect, in addition to our own data.
"VTT is working determinedly to develop information security. Our investment in data protection gives us an even better ability to carry out confidential projects with our partners," says Marko Koistila, Executive Vice President, Commercial Operations at VTT.
