VTT's President and CEO Antti Vasara is leaving the company

News, Press release

VTT's President and CEO Antti Vasara has decided to leave the company at the end of June. Vasara has led VTT very successfully for nine years.

"Under Antti Vasara’s leadership, VTT has excelled in many aspects and has become a leader in the research, development, and innovation sector in Finland and a significant influencer throughout Europe. VTT has successfully seized the opportunities brought by changing environment and has grown its commercial activities in key global markets during very challenging times. The company has invested in research, people’s competence, and well-being while recruiting new talent quite heavily. The company's finances and reputation have also significantly strengthened," says Pekka Tiitinen, VTT's Chairman of the Board.

The impact of VTT's challenge-driven research and VTT’s employees’ satisfaction have clearly improved. The company attracts new experts also internationally to join a meaningful place to work. VTT has created significantly more spin-off companies based on VTT's own research work than before, and the funding they have raised accounts for nearly 10 percent of all startup investments in Finland in recent years. VTT's customers are faster-growing and growth-investing companies, and the company’s customer satisfaction is at an excellent level.

"On behalf of the entire VTT Board of Directors, I want to thank Antti for his excellent work over the past nine years and wish him the best of luck and success in the future," says Tiitinen.

"I am extremely grateful for my years at VTT and happy about what we have achieved together with VTTers, our customers, and partners. I want to thank both the VTT Board of Directors and our owner, the Finnish state, for their trust and unwavering support. VTT is a fantastic organisation full of brilliant minds, and working with them has been particularly rewarding," says President and CEO Antti Vasara.

"My curiosity towards learning new has only grown as I have progressed in my career. Going forward, I want to focus on working with growth companies as a board member," Vasara sums up.

Antti Vasara will work as VTT's President and CEO until the end of June. The search for a new CEO has begun.
